I was raised going to church, but when I moved away from my family, I didn’t want to go. I didn’t know anyone and the churches I visited seemed unfriendly. But I knew it was something that needed it – food for my soul. So I found a friend who was also looking for a church, and we stuck it out visiting different churches until I found one I liked. The second step is having the guts to stick around until you get to know people. Relationships is the key to going to church. Once I made a few friends, it was easy to keep attending. I am so glad I put in the effort.

We liked our church in Portland, but haven’t had too much luck finding one that suits us since we moved to San Francisco. This is really a goal to undertake when we get back to Portland next year. But I like having it on my list as a reminder.
