I’ve been living here for 6 years! When I moved in, I figured I would do the renovations first, then redecorate. Considering I still haven’t done any renovations, I haven’t gotten started on any redecorating either!
My books, piles and piles of books, are sitting piled up on the floor in my dining room. They take up a whole wall, practically! I still have boxes of stuff – full, unopened boxes – that haven’t been unpacked. I have a bed that looks like it belongs to a college student, and plastic dresser drawers from Walmart! I have absolutely nowhere to put all my clothes, so they are sitting piled up on my study table in the corner of my bedroom. All the stuff in my kitchen is the stuff I swiped from my parents’ house when I moved out – aka none of it matches and all are chipped.
I am Martha Stewart’s nightmare!

My bedroom/office space. Find a place to put away my cameras and store all my AC/lighting gear so it’s accessible and easily inventoried. Better lighting conducive to working/reading at night. Organize closet, and throw away all unwanted clothes.

I will finally hang some art, throw out all the extraneous baggage I’ve been carrying, make room for new books, and re-do the lighting in my room.

I have bought paint testers and a sander. That’s almost having done it by my standards! Have picked the colour for the kitchen – I’m going to do it this weekend hopefully so I can at least get one thing done totally!!

he is a really nice kid. He’s about 30, looks about 20. First time homeowner and appears to be a very hard worker. His parents live out of state and hence why I think when he sees me now, he greets me by saying “Hi, Mamma, how was your day?” Occasionally, he’ll knock on the back door, in a panic, asking me if groundmeat left out over night will kill his new girlfriend if he makes her chilli….
The last knock pertained to a broken chainsaw…I couldn’t fix it, but my husband had it back up and running, in about ten minutes…
Than there was the morning apology, for the Bachelor party he hosted at his home….hoping his guests were not so loud..I have kids, your friends don’t annoy me if my kids don’t annoy you..
A group of us were outside last night, enjoying the last bit of summer weather, and talking about our favorite movies..
He said “You like James Dean?”
“Yeah, I love him”
“I’ll be back”
He run across the street and returned with the hugest, most wonderful framed photo of James Dean….black and white
“Here, it’s your’s”
What a great addition, it is making to my living room!
I not only love the picture, but I found the jester very sweet.
His parents should be very proud, of this nice young man they raised!

I have a good idea of what I’d like my ‘home’ to look like. Although there is not much I can do in a rental property, I’m going to start obtaining decorative pieces, artwork, furnishings etc to do as much as I can in a rental place and have a nice collection when I finally buy my own place.
