I too am have assigned myself all his works to be read. Farewell My Lovely, The Long Goodbye and half of The Big Sleep. I’m switching to his short/pulp stories for a break. LOVE HIM! Why can’t Marlowe be real.

I’m going to take on the rest of the list in order.
So, first up – The Big Sleep. I’m a little leary of starting with what is arguably his best and most famous work (not to mention the book upon which was based one of the best and most famous noir films), but I’ve wanted to read this one for years so I’m excited, too.
I read The Little Sister on the plane to and from England. Chandler is pulp at its best so these should all be fast reads (barring any of his random drunken ramblings).
The Big Sleep (1939)- Farewell, My Lovely (1940)
- The High Window (1942)
- The Lady in the Lake (1943)
The Little Sister (1949)- The Long Goodbye (1954)
- Playback (1958)
- Poodle Springs (1959) (incomplete; completed by Robert B. Parker in 1989)
