I really want to try out for a play. I have actually had it as my New Year’s Resolution for the past two years, and haven’t done it yet! I almost tried out for a play this fall at a local community college, but I was not sure if I would have time for the rehearsals (I am in grad school and work part-time.) I WILL do it one of these days!
How to try out for a play
How I did it: In my high school, there's a play every year. Ever since I was in grade 9 I've tried out, and I never got in. This past year, my school was putting on a play and I decided not to try out. My friend convinced me (a boy I liked was in the play :P) and I ended up making it into the play, and I even got my first callback for one of the main characters!
Lessons & tips: Auditions are hard. There are so many times you won't get in, but don't give up, and you'll have your day! :) Acting is all about growth, and whether you get in the play or not, you'll learn something to take with you to the next auditions =) BUT GET OUT THERE AND DOOO IT!

I got a role !! Not as the sultry lesbian dominatrix, but a monologue nonetheless!!
A role in the Vagina Monologues – The Flood, i am playing an old woman who talks about wetness, it will be a challenge, as much as i want to play the sultry woman sooo bad, this will be good acting practice!
I do not know what happened on November 30, 2007.
It was the most surreal experience, it was the highest point of my life. I purred and pranced and strutted on stage. Then when i had to perform the 10 different moans: a force came from within and i’ve yelled and howled like I could not make myself do in my own home.
It was the most thrilling experience, whether I make it or not i may just continue trying out for plays for that rush of being on stage.
I find out tomorrow. I hope I get it.
I will be trying out for my first play, the Vagina Monologues.
I’m scared, i figure though, it’s good to start this audition process at least as a freshman becuase then i have time to practice. If i can get 1. get on stage and audition and 2. talk about vaginas and do different moans, i can do anything!!!
I neglected to mention that I wasn’t nearly as nervous as I thought I would be. Back to the old nightly grind of rehearsals.:)
I tried out for a play…all 4 days. I had a dream that I was going to get a part and well…I did!
Gee, I guess I’ll have to figure out how I’m going to work out now. Crap.
Yay, I guess I can take this off my list.
I shall be trying out for a play on the 7th or the 8th. Wish me luck!
I sure hope I don’t need anything to be prepared because I won’t have anything.
The audition was so nerve racking! Just standing there singing solo to a judge and other people. But i faced my fears and had fun in the process. Very worth it. Next time though, i’ll propably get more practice. I’ll get the cast sheet in 3 days. Hope i make a role!
I am trying out for a the Music Man musical at my high school. When i was in middle school, they did this same play and i was in it, so i guess i had some experience. I hope i have a better part this time though, but no matter what, i’ll just do my best and be proud of it. Now i just have to find a good broadway song to sing for auditions. Wish me luck!
One of the scariest things ever but if you live through the experience and make it into a play it is so worth it for sooo many reasons!
