i want to get dread lock but i have no idea how?
How to grow my hair into very long dreadlocks
How I did it: first time I did the neglect method (ie just stopped combing my hair but of course washed it). My hair was really short and curly when I started, so that helped. It took a long time but they turned out great. After a couple years I combed them out using several bottles of detangler and fine toothed comb.
Lessons & tips: I didn't use wax at all. I didn't condition or moisturize my hair for a couple months.
Resources: I used Knotty boy dread shampoo and Pantene clarifying shampoo. Now that I am conditioning and moisturizing again, I use olive oil, shea butter and/or Knotty Boy spray conditioner.

I wasn’t sure if i wanted to stick with the style (I’m so chicken), but I heard you can knot your hair and help it lock up with a mixture of vaseline and styling mud and it gives you temporary dreads… I tried it and it looked cool but I didn’t like sleeping on them… I think it was because of their size… I have really thick hair so I had about 20-24 thick ones….. But when my hair grows out I will definitly try it again….
This is the best hair decision I have ever made. I curl them, I style them but I never have to comb them! I play a lot of sports and no longer have to worry about pulling my hair into a bun before every race or game.
You won’t believe how fast your hair grows. I wish I had done this much earlier in life.

Not sure how much longer I will let them get. They have been past the middle of my back but I trimmed them to mid-back length. I told myself I wouldn’t cut/trim them any more. Maybe I’ll let them grow down to my knees.
Check out my Dreadlocks Page for the full story and lots of pics!
as “shave my head” is also on the list, and i plan to do it first. but someday i will totally do this.
