How to go canoeing
It made me
slightly bored
 "It was fun but the river was quite slow so not very exciting"
How I did it: I went with my friend to a river in the south of France, to a place where the lend out canoes, and we were driven further up the river and paddled down over the course of two hours. The best parts were when we capsized (fell in the water) just as we were stopping on the side of the river for lunch. It was a slow river and my friend kept putting the paddle in the water to slow the movement of the boat from one side, which was VERY annoying, I only recommend this if the river is relatively fast moving. Otherwise it just undoes the effort of paddling. Lessons & tips: -don't put the paddle in to try and control the movement of the canoe by blocking the water if the river is already very slow. Resources: Everything was provided by the canoe company. Otherwise, I'd say bring along a picnic, bottles of water, etc. |

It was fun. We went canoeing for three days so at the end I was really exhausted (cause normally I’m not very sportive person) and at that time I didn’t want to hear about any canoe trips ever again. But now that I remember it- it was worth it. And I would definitely do it again.

i was going to go to paddlefest this weekend to go canoeing, but i ended up hanging out with my good friend patron the night before. damn tequila.
Santa brought the kids a canoe for Christmas this past year.
So, this past April we managed to get this canoe secured to the top of the Chevy Cobalt. The canoe is longer than the car. It looked like a canoe with wheels.
I piled the kids in the car and we drove carefully to the nearest lake. Man handled the canoe into the water off the dock, had the kids get in while steadied it, got in and paddled off across the water.
My girl asked if she could stand up and I explained that she could as long as she didn’t mind the cold water. She quickly sat down.
We had our lunch right there in the canoe. My boy tried without success to catch some fish.
Paddled back to the marina before the sun set and pulled the canoe right up on the bank next to the dock.
It was great! We plan on doing this as often as we can.
I would love to take advantage of the great outdoors more often than I seemingly have time for. For the first time this year, I was able to take a weekend off and devote myself completely to my own well being in the company of great friends and nature, by completing a 13 mile canoe trip down the Shenandoah river. There are few words that can properly describe the aesthetic appeal of nature, though how much longer her unspoiled beauty may last is a question posed by many, yet determined by all. I hope that one day everyone will share a universal respect for the world that we live in and its’ People and to do as much as possible to reduce the footprints that we leave behind.

i will not be doing it anytime this year, we are at our fun spending money limit, so i am going to tack it on to my next summer camping goal

Yay! BP and I went canoing on the Huron River today. The weather was perfect for it. We only crashed into trees a few times. :) I was bummed that I didn’t go last summer at all, so I’m glad I went this summer. (And I definitely wouldn’t mind going again.)
