soo, ive officially learned my first song… its bubbly by colbie caillat. But, my fingers hurt so badly that i can barely get to the end of the song so i decided to take a break and write to everyone about how wonderful i’m doing. Its much easier than i thought it would be, but it helps that i know the song! yay for guitar! 6 days ago

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar, its my so called “musical side”. Once, I even bought one, and i was DETERMINED to start, until i broke a string and then we were kind of in trouble. I just never went out to replace it. So, here I am. A bit of a mess, wishing i could play my physically disabled guitar. But, with a bit of persistance, tomorrow im setting out to find a new string and then, to develop disgusting caluses on my fingers.

So, I picked up a course book I have owned for ages. An 8-week “crash course” for acoustic guitar. Worked my way through the first three VERY basic lessons on my Martin 6-string yesterday evening. Will attempt the remainder of the “first week” lessons today.

And no, this is not mindless rushing on my part. I already know how to tune a guitar and play about three chords, so this first week’s lessons are really just revision. 1 week ago

Bought an acoustic with the intention to teach myself from online lessons. It didn’t go as well as i’d hoped, giving up each week when fingers started to hurt too much. Pretty cool being able to play parts of my favourite songs though. Have had to leave it behind, but may buy another one soon… 4 weeks ago

Well I didn’t make it to the gym this morning. I overslept. Mostly because I was up until 1AM working with GuitarPro which is awesome software. I was having a hard time finding a decent arrangement of amazing grace so I started writing one myself. So much fun. And it’s helping me learn the notes on the string because I can see the staff paper and the tab together. Awesome. 1 month ago

I helped my friend’s kid put up shelves in his room and in return I got a couple of hours worth of guitar lessons. So I learned the pattern for the pentatonic scales, power chords, hammer on/off, slides and a tip on a cool program for managing sheet music. 1 month ago
