How I did it: Well, I started about 7 years ago and I've been improving ever since. I was started off on easy stuff, learning the names of all the notes is really important. Basically, if you want to get really good at guitar, you have to learn the basics first. You'll pick stuff up so quickly if you know note names, basic chord patterns, and reading tabs or music helps too. I'm only 14 but I'm better than a lot of adults I know who play the guitar, be… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Just keep it there, have it around and don’t force yourself to play it if you don’t want to. If you enjoy it, you’ll play it. It may seem like you’re only playing it once a month or even more rarely than that, but keep it there and keep enjoying it as much as possible and you will eventually be playing for multiple hours every day and wondering how you ever lived without it. How I did it: I had guitar class in school, and at first it was slimly difficult. I played everyday, got better and better, now the class is over, but I already surpassed our learning material while I had the class, still playing too. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I just signed up for a beginner's guitar class last semester. LOL! Very glad to be able to say I "can" play guitar! And its fun because you can play so many parts and melodies with a guitar where as other instruments can only play one thing. Read how I did it…

How I did it: First off, I'm not that good at it and I realize that learning guitar is an ongoing process that will never really be 100% accomplished.... but I just decided one day that I needed to put my mind to this and I went for it. I wanted to be able to play P&W songs at church. I taught myself from an old Carole King guitar book & an old Beatles book from the 70s. They had chord diagrams in them and the Carole King book had an intro on s… Read how I did it…

I’m able to do A-Shape barre chords. I know the beginnings of few songs, but I’m lazy to learn them completely. I feel that I keep on playing and doing things I already know, without learning anything new :(
I want to make a daily practice schedule. Any suggestions?

My sister gave me this awesome guitar when I got married, and it has just lain dormant for so many years. I am determined to learn how to play the damn thing.
I got myself a chord poster (again, many years ago), which I finally hung on the wall next to where I keep the guitar. I keep hoping that mere proximity will make a difference.
I need a practice plan, a schedule. Maybe if I work out exactly which scales, chord changes, etcetera, that I need to do for a lesson, I’d find a little more motivation.

I think I have to admit that my lack of success in the past is NOT a reflection of my lack of desire to learn, and I should recommit to learning to play someday.
I will:
*squirrel money away until I can afford to buy a guitar.
*read about guitars on the market so I’ll know what to get.
*purchase a guitar, when I can.
*take lessons.
*learn a song I like as soon as possible to make me feel like I’ve actually gotten somewhere.
*practice.
I don’t like knowing I’ve let this go for so long, but I’m not giving up.

I really want to learn to play guitar, I have got two guitars, and a book on how to learn guitar but never got the time… I have had guitar lessons in the past but I always gave up, so soon i hope to pick up my guitar and learn some chords, at least! :)
I’ve had a guitar, off and on, for about fifteen years and I still don’t really know how to play it! I’ve had some teachers but have had to drop out after a while because of time constraints, money or other reasons. Most of what I’ve learned I found through video lessons on youtube, but those are all specific lessons for songs. I haven’t found anything that teaches you, step by step, how to play the guitar. I have fun with the few chords I know but I want to break out beyond that. I wish I had a friend who plays and more time to practice too!
so i bought a guitar. a cheap one. but i am now the owner of a entry level legion. i’ve learnt some chords and an easy version of im yours by jason mraz. i honestly don’t know why i waited so long to get one. and i can’t wait till i have some more spare time to practice
