So – I cracked a molar. Now – let me say that I have been lucky to be someone who has only had 1 cavity and it did not need novocaine to fill so the cracked tooth was pretty traumatic. And the filling was not sufficient so I needed a root canal. Only the first part could be done today so I have to go back next week.
They saved the tooth so that makes me happy. Also – the endodontist was super nice and helpful. 3 years ago

How I did it: It really wasn't as bad as I expected - I've had fillings that were A LOT more painful that had me in tears for weeks after.
Except the inital injections which was painful I didn't feel much otherwise except the discomfort of having a vibrating coil thing resting on my lower teeth.
Not much pain after, less pain than a filling, except from where injection went in which was sore for a few weeks, and slight discomfort with the temporary crown being "too high" but all that took is another quick visit for it to be filled down.
I have to add that I had very little discomfort with the tooth before the root canal removal, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Only thing is I now have a crown and even after three months I'm still not used to it being in my mouth. Read how I did it… 3 years ago

Honestly, when I first went to the dentist to have this process done.. it was painful, but only because the nerve was still vital. So the dentist put some cream like medication on top of the tooth to kill the nerve. I was asked to come back after 3 days.
(No wonder people who undergone this process, before such medication was formulated developed some sort of trauma. I can only imagine the pain they’ve gone through..)
But fear no more fellas! We’re in the modern world and such medication to kill a tooth nerve has been invented! So be brave and get that root canal. It’s worth it! 3 years ago
