WETWATERCalvin the Barbarian
I’ve actually read portions of Calvin’s “Institutes”. It comes as no surprise that he was a LAWYER. It is a huge misfortune that he painted himself into an intellectual corner so that he had to believe that God is absolutely arbitrary in determining, before all time, WHo would be saved and WHO would be damned. That is a kind of god who not only is not worthy of our devotion, but is an absolute menace to be eradicated in the minds of humanity. Calvin’s followers, sworn enemies of human happiness, have caused a lot of trouble in the world. They were the Puritans who are unjustly celebrated for founding America. And their spiritual, sometimes even blood, descendants are still at it today. Only they’re called “The Religious Right”. If Calvin had been suffocated as an infant, America and the world would be a lot better today. 6 years ago
