Absolutely amazing. If there’s any way for you to see it before it closes, it’s a must. I was blown away.

I’ve seen this production twice (and will again in a few weeks), and I must say…it blew me away! This new interpretation of the classic Sondheim masterpiece is surely something to be seen.
The cast is talented beyond belief, and the leads (Patti LuPone, Michael Cerveris) are absolutely phenomenal. It is not just a staging of a show, it is a theatrical experience. With the actors also being the musicians, a whole new feeling is added. The intricate lyrics shine in the stripped down, but still wonderful, orchestrations.
It’s a must see!
However, it does close September 3, but I do hear that there will be a tour mid-late 2007.

I’ve seen four different versions of this musical. I have the PBS version on tape and CD. After watching the Tonys last night – seeing a bit of the new, stripped down almost industrial (and utilitarian – the actors play instruments!) 2006 version I know I’m going to have to save my money for this show. It looks AMAZING. I just hope they tour.
