i went away for 2 and a half months to do some quite physical work – i worked on farms for 25 hours a week in exchange for meals and accommodation so i was eating really healthily but was eating loads of veg fruit etc. however my husband broke his ankle so we had to come back early and its been really hard to keep up the good work. so i’ve had to make sure i’m not eating as much. but now theres no unlimited source of fresh fruit and veg that i can just pick and eat and no easy way to burn it off in everyday life. so its a bit harder.

I don't have to 3 weeks ago

resign to the “fact” that I’m just an unhealthy person. I can get off my ass and start doing things in the best interest of my body. If I treat it right it will treat me back, eventually. Let’s see what I can do.

To be crystallized into a more solid form later.

  • Body-brushing. Circular motions, smooth skin. Scrubs. Spurts of cold at the end of hot showers.
  • Lush products. Soaps, oils, lotions. Exotic fragrances, scents as delicate as tissue paper. Bathing in beautiful smells.
  • Vitamins and tonics. Feeding myself from the inside out. Fish oil, vitamin B, something decadent for my skin.
  • A foolproof skincare system. SPF for daytime. Rich creams at night. Facemasks. Capsules. Exfoliant. Pick-me-up eye brightener.
  • Fresh body spritzers, thick body creams. Firming lotion. Something to remove those irritating tiny spider veins.
  • Manicures. A rainbow of colours. Hand massages. At home or in a salon. Same goes for the feet. Pumice srubs, foot rubs, long soaks in steaming tubs.
  • Speaking of massages, why not all over? Once a month, once every two weeks. Undo the knots, unwind.
  • Hair products that cater specifically for me. Something to protect my tresses from those irons. An indulgent hair mask.
  • Water, water, water (with a cheeky twist of lemon).
  • Detox. Purify.
  • Facials!
  • Acupuncture. Tensions seeping out through pin-pricks.

Treating my body like a Temple means to me: 5 months ago

Eating a detox diet. Full of antioxidants like cranberry juice and cultured yogurt; Organic fruits and vegetables; wholesome whole grains; skimping out on dairy and choosing soy milks; avoiding red meat and poultry for fish and tofu. Just a good, solid diet with loads of water.

To detox my body with sweat. That means running and strength trainning.

To quiet my mind with meditation and yoga and to strengthen my mind with schooling.

And to just keep my hair clean, my body smooth, my teeth clean, my nail cut. To be Fresh, and Clean overall.

Some people take their bodies for granted. What most of us don’t realize is that we’ll only have one and we should treat it as best we can. I want to try and treat my body better by eating healthier, continuing to drink a lot of water and more recently exercise. I’m taking a yoga class now to see if it helps me focus more. Treating your body like a temple isn’t only physical. I know that when my emotions feel out of place my body follows.

is currently indulging in a home-brewed mocha latte with whipped cream…

Now, I do buy expensive specialty coffee from all those world-dominating brand name coffee shops all the time, but – I don’t know, there is just something about making decadent coffee at home on a snowy day.

Pure indulgent luxury.

Next I think I may unwrap a Belgian chocolate and name it “Breakfast” :-)
