How to travel on my own by _GreenLantern_

How I did it: Well, it was a trip with no one I knew, so it was on my own. I had randomly signed up to do a volunteer project seven months beforehand and then set off for my adventure when the time came in late May. Spent two weeks helping out at a shelter for abused children in the Northern Thailand. Then spent the next two weeks traveling throughout the country. I experienced many things that I had never imagined myself doing before and met some of the most amazing people along the way. It shall be something I will never forget.

Lessons & tips:

  • You really don't need to pack as much as you think you would for a month long trip.
  • Talk to people, especially locals. They will always have some interesting stories and great advice.

    My son and I are taking a trip this summer ro a place we’ve never been to visit some friends. It’s not technically “on my own”, but it’s certainly a different experience than travelling with my husband and, let’s face it, he’s only four so I get to call the shots. We’ll even do an overnight on a train!

    Would love to inter-rail on my own, but it’s a scary thought. I don’t really like being on my own, but think this would be a worthwhile experience to see things how I want to, and to gain some independence.

    I finally went to TX alone 20 months ago

    I flew in, so it’s not like i drove all the way by myself, but i’ve never traveled w/o parents, husband, friend or kids…

    Flew out & made many jumps to get to Central TX. I met some REALLY COOL people on the planes… even met some famous band people!!! WOOHOO!

    Traveling alone 22 months ago

    I promised myself I woul achive many things this year and traveling alone was one. I am kind of nervous but I am excited too. My first trip is going 2 b as a third wheel type of deal with my friend & her husband 2 Vegas this June. I am going 2 take the same flight with them but I am getting there on my own & I may stay in a different hotel I haven’t decided. I will be spending alot of time by myself because they are involved in a bowling league. I am going 2 go 2 a few clubs alone and sit at the bar. THAT is really scary 2 me but I am GOING to do it. I have to start living my life. I feel so restless in my life right now. The next trip will be a 2 a yoga conference in Colorado. I will be completly by myself. Stay tuned !

    i went around the u.s on my own this summer. it was the best month ever!! i love travelling, but now i am broke! once i graduate from college, i’m want to hit europe. or austrailia. or africa. there are so many places i want to see!!!! i cacn’t wait!
