A few months ago, I decided I wanted to learn how to knit. Now I knit scarves, hats, shawls, socks, lace and cables with some confidence. So I think it’s safe to say I have achieved this goal. I will definitely continue knitting, and I have more skills to learn, but I will use more specific goals from now on.

Here are some goals I have:
1. Laptop protector
2. Totoro hat or scarf
Latest FOs:
1. Icing Swirl Hat
I used one of my favourite yarns, Rowan Cocoon, for this project and I adore the finished result. It’s my favourite hat ever. Knitting designer Ysolda Teague’s pattern was brilliant.
2. My first sock
Not much to say about this. It´s a plain, basic sock. It looks alright and it fits, but I need to make #2 before I celebrate this achievement…
WIPs:
1. Forest Canopy Shawl
My first knitted lace shawl, in Rowan Felted Tweed. Love this project!
2. Ishbel shawl
Another lace project, in soft alpaca. Just started it.
and, of course:
3. Sock #2
Someday I may venture into the big bad world of sweaters and strange knitting projects that you are never sure if people other than yourself will ever truly appreciate. For now, I am quite content & feel like I’ve fairly mastered the art of the baby blanket, and people always seem to enjoy these cuddly little items. This time I’ve really invested in some high quality wool yarn from a little shop I found in NYC called Purl Soho. The difference in texture and ease of knitting is marked- almost amazing. I’m going to be spoiled and only want to knit with this stuff from now on. Happy knitting!
I’ve been knitting quite a lot to calm my wrecked job hunting nerves. My current projects are a pair of fingerless mittens in soft, hand dyed merino wool and a slouchy, blue wool hat worked in a mock cable pattern. They are both lovely knits.

07/18/09:I LOVE to knit so accomplishing this goal really should be lots of fun. I learned to knit while in the 3rd grade (when I was about 8 years old). My greatest knitting accomplishment was completing a sweater that for an ex-boyfriend (also one of my biggest regrets) several years ago. In recent years, I’ve been knitting mostly scarfs but I’m now ready to venture into knitting more advanced (and creative projects) like socks, mittens, and yes even sweaters.
To accomplish this goal, I plan to knit a little everyday. I hope to complete 1-2 projects a month. Currently, I’m knitting a baby blanket for my niece. It’s turning out beautifully (see attached picture).
Once I have completed at least 25 finished knitted projects of various assortments (socks, mittens, gloves, shawls, blankets, sweaters, etc.) I will consider this goal completed although I will continue to work on improving my knitting since this is a lifelong hobby.
I (re-)learned to knit a few months ago (knittinghelp.com is great!) and it’s so much fun. Currently, I’m working on a mohair scarf and a dog coat in bulky wool.
The older I get, the more patient I become. So, I decided to learn how to knit.
I approached my mother with a ball of wool and some needles and demanded that she taught me how. I thought I had it within about ten minutes, then I had to keep returning to her over the next few days to get her to help me unpick bits. I’ve been knitting the same scarf ever since. I got sidetracked.
