i was driving my brother and his friends to the movies. One of his friends said that another boy was a ‘faggot’. implying that homosexuality is a characteristic to be ashamed of (even though the boy was not actually gay.) i said “don’t say that. it’s really offensive. a faggot is acutally a bundle of sticks. and in medieval times they used to burn homosexuals, and calling them ‘faggots’ was a way of dehumanizing them.” At first i thought, it wasn’t my place to say anything. But he didn’t know any better, and was actually interested.
