BlackBugs is working on her new Maggie
at a Nikon D60 to start with + lens 18-135….
How I did it: Mostly it was a result of christmas. I had saved myself about halfway there, and for christmas my parents gifted me their spare change tied in baggies on about 20 feet of string. It was quite an unwrapping experience! Read how I did it…

Hestia74 is building up on my FLYlady routines...
I’ve always been interested in photography, but it can become quite an expensive hobby! I have a prehistoric Pentax K1000, completely manual, and in serious need of maintenance. However, since I bought my little digital point-and-shoot Kodak EasyShare over a year ago I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a digital SLR, maybe a Cannon Rebel, and take photography seriously once and for all. Now that my baby is coming, I’d like to take great pictures of him and his dad.
Kelso It;s disgustingly hot in the loft.
As of right now I have $138 in my camera savings.
I’m either one-fourth or one-fifth of the way to my goal.
It would certainly help if I knew which DSLR I had in mind.
Most likely a Nikon D40/D60, but I have to do some more research before I set my plan in stone.
Cheers!

Money-earning probably won’t be much of a problem; $10 per week for lawn mowings, selling prints on the Web, and things like that should help out my pitiful little bundle of saved cash. I just need to decide which camera to purchase.
So far, I’ve narrowed it down to three cameras: the Nikon D40, the Canon Digital Rebel XTI, or the Nikon Coolpix P80 (which, I suppose, isn’t technically a DSLR, but still better than a point-and-shoot). Any and all input would be much appreciated. :-)
Cheers!
My ultimate dream job is to be a nature/landscape photographer. I don’t really expect that to pan out but if nothing else, it can be a great hobby. First step is to buy a new, quality camera. It will take some time to save up for that.. but it will be so worth it.
This is the first step in my goal of working for National Geographic as a photographer. Have to start somewhere, eh? I think I may get some kind of degree in biology, too, but that is the second step.
Ever since I developed an interest in Digital photography, I have since wanted a nice, lavish digital camera. Right now I am stuck between a Canon EOS 350D, a Canon EOS 400D or something similar. Now that the weather is slowly getting better, I think I will be spending more time getting out with my current digital camera. Although it’s only a Canon Ixus it still does the job. Hopefully my dad will allow me to borrow his Canon Power Shot on the odd occassion until I can get my digital SLR!!
I remember becoming interested in photography back when I was 9 years old. I would use the left over, non-used pictures on my parents’ disposable cameras. Even through all the years I still haven’t received my own camera, nor received any help or encouragment to pursue my interest. Now after making my way into the Art College of my dreams I figure I need to buy my own SLR. I dream of a beautiful camera like little girls dream of ponies.
Right now I am putting $100 away during each pay period and expect to buy myself one by this upcoming Christmas (2008). Wish me luck!
