My company really encourages people to take the LOMA courses. They pay for them and give cash bonuses for earning designations.
I am currently studying my 3 course (ACS100 – Foundations of Customer Service). If all goes according to plan and I can take 3 more next year I will have my ACS and my AIAA designations by the end of 2009. Then just 5 more to go for the FLMI!
The texts are boring as hell, but hope it will be worth it in the end!
This Fellowship definitely advanced my career at American Express. I encourage anyone in Financial service industry to pursue this
...But I finally passed my last test! No more LOMA for me. Now time to work on my health certifications… egh…
I passed 361 today, the Accounting and Financial Reporting course. Only one more to go, and hopefully I will be able to take that one in March of ‘08!
I passed the Institutional Investments course today by the skin of my teeth (by ONE question)!! Work has been out of control lately which did not leave much time for studying, but I crammed for a week and managed to squeak by… Not how I would have liked to have done it, but with this test I earned my ALMI (Associate version of the FLMI) and have only two tests to go for the FLMI…
After putting it off for about three years, I finally took the Econ course and passed! And then there were three… I am signed up to take one more in June and I think I will leave it at that for this year. That will leave only two tests for next year and I’ll be done!
Well, work instituted a limit on the number of tests we can take each year so at the earliest I’ll be able to complete this in January, though I may not be able to till April.
This is one of the major certifications for my field, issued by LOMA (www.loma.org). It consists of passing 10 tests (I’ve finished 5). It’s a cool thing to have and also, my company gives bonuses for completing the tests. I really want to finish by the end of August. We’ll see. I’ve heard the last few tests are harder and I also know they involve reading two books instead of just one.
