How to design a cd cover
How I did it: A few years ago I joined a band and met a lot of other artists and musicians through touring and playing shows locally. I always keep a sketch book and showed some paintings at an art gallery show. A band asked me to design an album cover for them and since then I have done two more.
Lessons & tips: Don't stress too much about what you think the band wants. If they have seen your artwork and have asked you to make them an album cover, it means they like what you do. I spent a lot of time worrying about what they would want and initially tried to manipulate my own style to suit thier music, with no success. I just ended up doing whatever I felt while listening to thier album and it turned out really good.
Resources: Basically just networking and becoming a part of the music scene and letting people know that I am interested in art. Artists and musicians are pretty supportive of one another, so if you let people know you are interested in making an album cover, they might think of you when they record an album.

I’m good at photo editing, all I need is a band who likes my work and wants to pay me for the job… anyone interested? Check out my portfolio :]
