tell people i love them

Some people are slow learners, and telling them that you love them just doesn’t register. Maybe its baggage, maybe its past experience, maybe its ADHD (A life full of Details and Hard to remember stuff that doesn’t Happen to register you are loved….) – but for those experiences we should work harder at demonstrating love. Saying I love you is powerful – showing that you love someone is worthwhile work.

My grandmother used to say that dead people can’t smell flowers – and her point was clear. If you want me to know you love me, let me know now. I have carried this simple sentiment with me for my entire life. I send cards, write people, let people know I love them – because life is so very short. This was a difficult week – our family lost a family elder and I couldn’t make the funeral. I was reminded of this brief sentiment and all the wonderful exchanges we had while my aunt was still alive. I have this ceramic easter plate for dyed eggs that she sent me a few years ago – and it brings me pure joy to see it. Not because it matches my taste, or that its that attractive really – I love it because it was part of her ongoing demonstration of love for me and my children. I’m glad we told her that we loved her – I want to make sure this is a habit practiced regularly.

i do.i love everyone. i told tom (boyfriend) but thats nothing new so it may have run out of meaning. how sad :( i do english, i can find new ways to tell him…a sonnet or something right? and i should tell everyone else too, i don’t know when i’ll next hear their voice.
