How I did it: A guy from uni was trying to start a flash mob for a video presentation about his stay in NZ. Needless to say, as soon as I heard about it, I was in.He'd posted fliers around various parts of the uni, but they failed to attract much attention, so most of our "recruiting" for the mob was done on the day. We went up to people on the street, explained the concept to them, and asked if they'd like to be a part of the experience. It was all a … Read how I did it…

My friend found out through Facebook about this. We were all ordered to show up w/ ipods. After being given our instructions and assigned subway car numbers, we marched over to the subway. Ticket takers must’ve been crazy confused b/c I’d estimate there were 1000 people there. All going down into Museum station one after another. Instructions were that if someone asked us why we were dancing, we’d have to make up some good excuse but not explain it was a flash mob.
Once we got on the subway we put on our ipods and started dancing…Soo people who weren’t in on it couldn’t hear the music and just saw dozens of randoms on the subway dancing for what seemed like no reason. Lol. I took pictures of some seriously confused looking people. Some people laughed, some scowled, one guy asked “Why are you all dancing?” One guy answers “because life is beautiful!” Uninvolved bystander guy started dancing too!
The whole thing was over a lot sooner than we had hoped. We got off the subway energized and ended up witnessing an impromptu break dance off.
And we all went our separate ways feeling energized and refreshed and actually making eye contact and talking to people on the subway! (In Toronto, this is a big no no).
The only thing I would change, would be to have it in the summer instead of winter. It gets hot dancing around in your winter jacket!
Been to 3, participated in 2.
1. Did a story about the Zombie Walk in Ottawa
2. Bubble Battle
3. Silent Subway Dance Party
Will write entry w/ photo.
This could actually happen. I’ve explained it to a few people, and they seem interested, so we might be able to get even more people. I’m determined to make this happen somehow.
I’m tired of having this goal on my list. If opportunity arises I will grab it but I’m not making progress, so I’m moving on to something else for a while.

Anyone interested in dressing in black and balling up in front of art institute right as they open??
Was quite fun.. we did actually two flash mobs in one day one in the station in front of the National Theatre.. and one in the town squre. The flash mob consisted in people standing like statues but in natural positions just as if they were talking or passing by.. each flash mob was like 2-3 minutes.
