    . . . I need to slow down and take my time. Good mastication is so important to me—I want to get the maximum benefit possible. I just need to give it more time, I think. Sometimes when I get in a hurry I bite my cheek! If I slow down I think I will enjoy it more.

    And everybody does it, I am sure some do it a whole lot better than me, but I am getting better at it. After all I masticate several times everyday, can’t remember a day not doing it. And it is a good way to show your partner respect . . . especially if they went to all that time and trouble to prepare the meal!

    Digestion begins in the mouth, and if I masticate better I will get even more nutrition from the food I eat. Breaking the food down with the aid of the teeth and tongue while adding saliva helps my tummy digest it better, and food can be so expensive, I should get all the vitamins, minerals, and proteins from it I can.

    And of course the longer you masticate the more you can enjoy the delicious flavors of the food—and it makes it so much easier to swallow!

    Yeppers—being a Better Masticator, that is definitely a goal for me. We all do it already, why not get really good at it!

    I think maybe 43 chews for each mouthful may be a bit much, but how about 43 chews for at least ONE mouthful at each meal, I can do that, how about you?
