Be really effective with vi(m)

I’ve been using vi for years, and it’s always been my main editor, outside of language/platform-specific IDE like Eclipse or Visual Studio. But I’ve never really dug deep enough to be really good at it.
I’m buying this book: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/vi6/ today, and I’m going to give myself 6 months to really be a real vi expert at last.

I mean, I know the basics well, and use it as my primary editor, but I never really felt like a VI master. I’ve even picked up books on it (New Riders has a nice one) but it always becomes one of those “when I get around to it…” things.
