I have noticed that when I have some sugar, like sweets or soda, I notice that I am having it and the effect it has on me. It is very much like drugs. (I think.) I take it because of those effects: comfort, reward, relief from worries, etc. These things are all very legitimate reasons for treating yourself in a certain way, but I find I am more conscious of it – and consequently sometimes choose not to take sugar, and just think-reward myself instead, for example. (“Hurray! Good for me.”) So, yeah, doing slightly better.

- More balanced energy level
- Better weight/figure control
- Better skin
Let’s start with shifting from hot chocolate at work to tea, huh? That’s easy enough. Plus I’m going back to the coke-only-friday-to-sunday rule! I mean, gotta acknowledge the addiction but I can limit it.

I have successfully cut down my sugar intake – and have realised that it is not an evil substance, just one that needs to be had in small doses!
I’m still working on my health and food issues, but my sugar battle is done.

I’m being a child. If I don’t curb my sweet tooth – I WILL become diabetic in a few years. I need to stop whining (in my head) about missing out on the yummy stuff and start celebrating that I respect myself enough to put my health first.
I have cut down my sugar intake and my carbs. In my mind, it’s done. Now I just need to wait for my body to catch up.

Ahhh… my dear, sweet friend (alright, alright – I know… sorry!)
I am choosing to focus on this goal specifically because of my high insulin reaction. I’m not diabetic yet – but that’s where I’m headed if I don’t get this sorted out.
I’ve talked about this before – and people may understand this, but I didn’t when I first found out, so I’m going to quickly explain it!
Basically, in a healthy, functioning body – when you eat sugar (including carbs) you release a small amount of insulin into the blood stream to keep the sugar level balanced.
My body sense sugar and completely floods me with insulin. This keeps my blood sugar balanced (hence me not being diabetic) but I then have WAY too much insulin cruising around in my body looking for trouble!
A “normal” level of insulin after eating sugar is 45. Last time I was checked, mine went up to 517… so you see my dilemma! It’s only a matter of time before the insulin doesn’t work because I’ve become’immune’ (kinda) and then I would be diabetic.
Soooo….
Technically I’m meant to be avoiding ALL sugar – including the obvious stuff like chocolate, lollies, cakes etc, but also fruit, bread, pasta (even my gluten free stuff!) – EVERYTHING!
I’m having a really hard time, so I’ll focus on cutting down first… then cutting it out later!
