Have a little bit of pointless fun every day

has been giving us retrospectives of the past all week. Have to admit these walks down memory lane make me smile!

Today is 1983…loved the editorial comment they made that it was like having Halloween all year long…

Remember Thriller? The Moon Walk? Risky Business? Pointer Sisters?
and of course Trivial Pursuit and Cabbage Patch Dolls and Intendo?

A much sweeter time. :)

Whitefish is one of the top places in the country to celebrate Halloween. The celebrations have been covered far and wide in print and television reports.

It started yesterday with trick or treat street for the children…trick or treating along the 3 block downtown area with prizes for the best costumes and fun for all! The little ones were out right after their naps and had lots to talk about at dinner!

This afternoon the Mountain Mall has a huge Halloween party. Ghosts and goblins…goodies, games, jump houses…you name it a party for children of all ages.

Then after dark the real fun begins when the grownup goblins hit the streets for a costume contest with big prizes and dancing at all the local watering holes. It is a sight to behold and even more fun to be a part of…

Alas, I am in a quandary…my friends who live in Kalispell have invited me to a Halloween Party at their home to meet new people. It seems J is on a local golf course board with some of the established business people in the county…so their party will be very grown up with couples. Since I am single they want to get me out with more people. I have been wanting to make new friends for months now. So the grownup part of me says go to the dinner party.

This is truly one night I wish I could be at 2 places at once. :)

Life is too short not to enjoy it and dwell on disappointments caused by others not following through on their commitments.

I am looking forward to an evening of Jazz music at the Lodge on the Lake with some other friends who promise they will pick me up about 6.

I even have a new outfit to wear. :)

a friend had a girl’s night out (slumber party) at her home to get to know new friends. We each invited 5 friends…none of mine could come but 1 of hers did…so the 3 of us had a wonderful time! We ate, got to know each other, drank wine and sang songs of our youth in front of the fireplace for hours just like we were teenagers.

The 3 of us have planned our next adventure to go to an evening of jazz on the lake at the Lodge in a couple of weeks.

I’m sure my friend’s husband was totally entertained. :)

and I went 70 miles furher into the wilderness to judge a chili cook-off that was a fund raiser for their Historic Museum. The chili was interesting…the people delightful… but the star of the day was the museum itself!

I haven’t seen a delightful museum as this in a very long time. The exhibits were very creative and the history of the area from the early cowboys and Indians ( ranch hands and Teepees), to mining,(an actual mining shaft) to the railroad (diarama of the railroad in all of the cabinet Mountains) was very eduacational and fun at the same time.

Saturday was a very fun day…new friend…new experiences… :)

and have never really stopped at any of the shops that interest me just to see what they have.

Today I stopped at Joann’s Fabric and Crafts. We had them in Texas and I loved going there for project ideas and supplies. I haven’t done any of that here.

I spent an hour just looking at everything trying to decide what I’d like to do this winter. I didn’t buy anything just browsed. It really was fun to reconnect with myself and the things I like to do.

He loves pirates and dinosaurs…so I bought a black chest at TJ’s today that will be the pirate’s treasure chest! I am going to decorate it with pirate stickers. I am so excited…found a toy pirate set with a hat, sword, hook hand and eye patch plus some bling…a decorate a pirate pumpkin kit for halloween…and a how to be a pirate book that plays all of the sounds as you read along…that with some doubloon candy will make the perfect pirate gift!

Ohh! I just found a free printable pirate coloring book on line to add with some watercolor paints or crayons for him…this is sooo much fun!

to see if I could find what is stopping my energy flow. It was very enlightening.

As it turns out I am an Indigo. This isn’t the first time I have been told this. As a teenager in the early 70’s I was in a special group that the University put together as a study of Indigo children. Studying our paranormal, intuitive experiences, etc. It was fun but I really didn’t see where it made much of a difference. My parents convinced me it was New Age mumbo jumbo and I went on with my life.

At least now I know this is real and I have some work to do to get my energy levels up. What else would I have to do this weekend? :)

I will go see it but in the meantime this morning PBS is playing 2 hours of Julia Child Memories. The French Chef.
It is hilarious!

She was amazing but her techniques are so human. This episode she is making omelettes. She’s wiping the counter with eggs flying onto the floor. She burned her fingers on a hot pan right after telling people to be careful. She couldn’t find her potholder so she grabbed a towel.

She was adorable!
