make more music

I currently obsessed with engineering a setup that will allow me to improv/perform my music live. The idea is nearly complete in my mind, and the gear is on the way. Just now I got a bit carried away in SketchUp trying to figure out how to arrange all this stuff in a portable box.

Seem to be spending more time making beats and never finishing them. Maybe its time for a change?

I’ve really been feeling it lately. It’s a good sign when you start to neglect other responsibilities to work on music. I try to avoid GAS as much as possible, but damn my new custom Juno-106 is making things fun again. The simplicity and limitations of the thing are really inspiring.

My music over the past year or longer has been extremely claustrophobic and cerebral – and less fun to actually listen to. I had an epiphany the other night while listening to The Beatles. I’m making music backwards. I should start with a good pop song, and then move on to making it cerebral—not the other way around.

So, I’ve dusted off some of my bouncy chord progressions that I used to be known for. It’s been liberating. Expect some struttin’, drippy pop weirdness to show up soon.

Making music on and off for quite some time, but its been a couple of years now, since i became a father i just dont get time.

Whee!

Last night I wrote a poem. Maybe I’ll add music to it, making them lyrics. That would be cool, and also help me forward in completing this goal.

Yay!! I got to play the piano a whole bunch this weekend, and I am now even more committed to making more music. It took a couple of songs to get my fingers used to where they were supposed to do, but then it was great fun… So… YAY for music!! i think that the piano is probably friendlier for my neighbors. I don’t know how they’ll feel when I get out the cello again. :-)

I want to expand my songwriting ability. I’ve tried before, but I may need a new way of thinking. Maybe I should take an hour now and then and just focus. Focus! :)

I put up a little website to make it easier to download my tunes. In retrospect, it was just another procrastination technique, but at least it was vaguely related to my goals this time. heh.
