train my dogs

I wish I could train both my dogs to stop barking so much.
And train one of my dogs to stop eating and ripping everything up.

I have two dogs and they need some serious training. They are pretty well behaved in the home but out in public they act like mad dogs. They bark like crazy at every dog they see and they pull and pant and bark whenever I take them for walks. All the neighbors think they are aggressive and don’t believe me when I tell them they are harmless! I want to be able to take them on a calm walk around the neighborhood like all my neighbors do with their dogs.

Jake is coming along nicely. He no longer jumps on me, is more polite, lays down on his bed when he first comes in from outside (this is to dry off by the fire).

I have 3 and they are bad dogs.. they pee and poop outside but other than that dont listen. i love animals but they are def. in control of me ..

I have been so neglectful of my dogs lately. There has been an illness in my family and I am in the midst of a major home renovation. I need to spend more time with them. I have spent a lot of time lately just being completely emotionally exhausted. My fur babes deserve a better life then they have had the past 10 days.

To top it off I have never really taught Jake anything. I have the most annoying dogs. I really need to step up and teach them to be proper pups.

I am going to start working with them with a clicker.

Dog training is hard for me because I have to be consistent and I can’t seem to find the right time to put it in a day. I’ve been surviving with a bark collar on Frank. He barks at everyone who walks by the house and if they’re walking a dog, which most are, he’s obnoxious. Pete, I put a shock collar on to keep him from eating EVERYTHING. I don’t have to use it because when it’s on and I say “out of the kitchen” he’s out of the kitchen. Those are their worst habits. I guess I just hope on day they’ll catch on and these bad habits will disappear.

going to be a disaster at this. I’ve needed a new bark collar battery for a couple of months and we’re getting new furniture so I have to teach the dogs not to go on the couch. I have information and the tools, I think though, that this is such a big goal that I procrastinate it because – I don’t know – I don’t think I can do. The dogs walk all over me.

But I know they would be great if they were more disciplined. Today I took Pearl and Lila for a walk downtown and my god I damn near broke a sweat just keeping them next to me. They were sniffing everywhere and getting at each other. Whoo! A lady passed us and her dog stayed right by her side…the ease of walking she had with her dogs unnerved me! I wanted that. And I wondered how she got to the point she’s at as I battled with my 2 beasts. Anyway, I simply refused to spend $90 an hour for training at Petsmart/Petco whatever. I dunno maybe it’s worth the invenstment?

I have no idea why I procrastinate this. Today Frankie can wear his bark collar. He barked all day yesterday and annoyed everyone IN the house. He usually just annoys those outside. He doesn’t bark when he wears the collar which is nice but he knows the difference of having it on or not.
