How I did it: Well, Im pretty sure everyone can figure that out. I did get lucky though. only 10 hours of painless labor (epidural) and 1 hour of tiring but not too painful pushing. The recovery has been the worst and most painful part of the whole experience. It didn't hurt that my baby girl was only 6 lbs 11 ozs either.
Lessons & tips: The best advice I can give is GET AN EPIDURAL!!! It makes everything soooo much easier and it doesn't harm the baby. Also, if you are overdue and are able to get induced, do it, labor is so much faster and goes more smoothly plus if you wait too long your baby may get too big and hurt a lot more on the way out (not to scare you) but that is just my opinion. You have to listen to yourself and what feels right to you, not anybody else.
Resources: Make sure to take a tour of your hospitals' maternity wards. While you are in the hospital, take full advantage of the nurses and lactation consultants because they are there to help and this stuff isn't easy.

My son arrived on Sept. 15, after 7 hours of labor and only 15 minutes of pushing! He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 20 in long. One month later he was up to 9 lbs and 22 in! I’m so proud of my little boy, and of myself, too, for safely delivering him. I couldn’t be happier.
...and I am nervous.
Not about becoming a parent, but about the whole hospital thing. Since I have RA, my doc scheduled a c-section a week before my due date so that we aren’t rushing or causing more stress on my body. So, a major surgery is kind of nerve wracking for me since the most intense medical procedure I have ever needed was stitches on my arm and that was only a year and a half ago.
Never broke a bone or sprained anything.
Never needed my wisdom teeth pulled (or had braces or cavities for that matter).
Never have been admitted and stayed the night at a hospital (let alone be there for 3 days!).
But I am getting very excited to meet my baby girl and get to know her as she grows and develops. I am confident that by that time, the hospital experience will be a fleeting memory.

Everything has been very smooth so far. Next appt. is 4/15.
I’m about 5 weeks. I understand things can still go wrong and all that, but I’m excited nevertheless. I’m still freaking out about the whole thing, but my boyfriend is wonderful, and we’ll be amazing parents. I’m young, but we’re stable, and we could make a great life for a baby. Every time I think about it I cry.
I’m 6 wks and I’ve already grown attached to that fact I will be having a baby sometime soon. I don’t want to start over so this is it!!
My son was born healthy and beautiful 10/3 at 6 lbs 15 oz at 5:39 PM. We are so happy :)
I am going to be induced on Tuesday. Maybe I will go before then. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
we have our 20 week ultrasound scheduled for next week and I can’t wait. I hope everything looks OK and we can find out what the baby is.
