How I did it: I went with the Equal Justice Foundation at my school to help rebuild the city. The people were warm, loving, thankful and they really need ALOT more help! Lessons & tips: Go and be prepared to love it and fall in love with the city and the people. |

How I did it: My band went to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl in January 2009. This was a great experience that I will never forget.Greatest things about the trip: The 10-hour bus ride was more fun with a bunch of friends from the band and the color guard. The Marriott downtown was pretty nice. We were within walking distance of everything downtown, especially the River-walk. New Orleans. On my way to someplace else. I owe it to myself to stop and take in the city. I have several friends from the area, they’ve offered to show me a good time. Definitely going before Mardi Gras.

New Orleans is a great place! I’ve been to the Jazz Festival and Mardi Gras several times…the people are amazingly sweet and interesting…the food is divine….and there is so much to see and do! A little hot and humid in the summer with lots of “thunderstorms”....but still great. Reslient hardy people and place~ I definitely think everyone should GO! :)

My first year into marching band, and I already am going on a big trip to the Sugar Bowl this New Years. I mean, I’ve always wanted to visit New Orleans, but in a marching band? Even better. Combine my two favorite things (jazz music and band) and this is the perfect trip.
