How to learn hebrew
How I did it: I am still at university so I took and level 1 semester course in Hebrew. You need a teacher, do not think you can learn a language from a book. I began by learning the Hebrew alphabet, then the personal pronouns, and then beginners vocab. It is key to learn the cursive along with the print. If you didn't already know Hebrew is written differently then it is printed in a book. It is best to learn how to read print and write cursive together because you will need to know how to read both.
Lessons & tips: Learn from a native speaker so you can practice learning the language with a proper accent. I hate when Americans speak another language with a thick American accent. Its not that hard to try and believe me you look more ignorant not trying, especially if you are learning the language to use while traveling. And, if possible find an Israeli boy/girl friend, it is by far the easiest and quickest way to learn a language.
Resources: look on craigslist for people who have Hebrew class or Rosetta Stone. I have never actually used Rosetta but I hear good things.

Ever since my mom started telling me what some signs meant, i wished I could understand all of them. If it is actually worth doing, then i want to learn!
My friend Kenny and I are working with a tutor. We’ve already learned our Alef Bet, and we’re working on reading now. I really love it.

I have been studying to “Medaber Ivrit” (Speak Hebrew) for about 3 months. I nailed the Alef-Bet in only 3 days and now I have two blessings memorized, the Sh’ma and the Modeh Ani!
I use little stickers all over my house to help me memorize common items like a fork (mahzleg) or flowers (praheem). I think I am picking it up pretty quickly, and this Saturday I will be attending my 1st jewish shabbat service!!!

I’m a little nervous.
Hope they don’t kick me out for not being Jewish.
I started learning Hebrew about 4 years ago, and took classes for almost a year at a local synagogue. After that I moved and have forgotten most of the Hebrew I had learned. I want to get back into it again, regain the knowledge I lost, and learn more.

I’ve been taking a class once a week for the alef-bet … I also do a little bit as part of my conversion class.
