Rejected 21 months ago

I’ve been rejected from Columbia but I haven’t given up. I’m just going to apply as transfer later this year.

I am currently in a top rated graduate program (which will remain unspecified) at this school. Who knows… maybe it’s just the program that I am in, but I find the professors to be pompous, the tuition to be way too expensive for the minimal amount of education that I recieve, and too much politics and red tape to make this experience worth the stress and financial burden.

I was a Columbia graduate. I think it was worth doing, although tuition was somewhat on the expensive side. It’s probably a lot more expensive now.

not *quite* done yet... 2 years ago

Well, I haven’t actually started classes yet, but I am here in New York City and registered for fall – classes start in about a week and a half. I am moving this goal to the done list, mainly to make room for more goals, but I’m pretty confident that I can say that this is worth it :-)

spoke too soon... 2 years ago

I just found out two days ago that I do get to go to Columbia after all!!! I will be starting in September – dreams really do come true…now I just need to figure out the most tactful way to graciously retract my acceptance from the other school.

I will leave this goal open until I actually get there and start attending classes, but it’s really happening!!!

If I were richer and braver, I’d go to Columbia now, but it will have to wait until grad school. Being accepted to Columbia was its own reward. Plus, I’m going to a great school to finish my undergrad work and I’m happy :-)

acceptance 2 years ago

I got my acceptance letter on Friday, but financing might be a problem – they do not send any financial aid offers with the initial acceptance letter, but I have been warned that they typically do not make generous financial aid offers to entering undergrad students – you must get there and prove yourself worthy. That makes a certain sense, but I really need to go to the best school that offers me the most money/least debt and I do have a generous offer from another great school, so this goal may soon wind up in my “given up” list…
