How I did it: Got my permit twice, well 3 times if you count the time before I got my license since they required me to have it before I got my license. Also took years to build up the courage. Weird but true. I used to get nervous about stuff way too easily. Now I've learned it's just easier to do and not worry so much. Life is much more enjoyable that way! Read how I did it…

Since I’m now almost old enough to get my license, a goal I’ve had for my enitre life, I can’t wait to do it!

Last night, I went out to the garage by myself with my set of car keys, and just sat in the driver’s seat.
I buckled myself in, and turned the key enough to turn the radio on (it was actually on the CD player- so the song that came on was ‘Enjoy Yourself’ by the Jackson 5! So, I took that as a good omen.) I brought my lavender scented oil out there for further calming, but I actually felt pretty good sitting there, I have to say. I did some positive visualization and like a child, I sort of pretended I was driving. It might all sound strange, but I think it’s a huge improvement for me. After living with this phobia for 15 years, it’ll be nice to be free… more to come.

I listened to the cd once so far. I need to do that more.
I practiced in my mind last night (lol) while Jason was driving us home. Sounds silly, but I consider it progress because I still had to think about what I would do at different times and how I would handle certain things.
Will keep at it, even if only in baby steps.

I underwent my hypnotherapy today. I think it went well—hard to tell just yet, but I will continue to reinforce it with my cd she gave me to listen to.
Stay tuned for updates!

I got approval from work to take 9/29 as a personal day for my hypnotherapy, so now I just have to make sure I have a ride there. I’ll probably check with my Mom first. It’s in the morning, and then I’ll have the whole rest of the day to myself!

I made progress today for the first time in a LONG time. I went to my consultation for my hypnotherapy. And I think that even though it was just the consultation, talking through stuff with her helped a bit.
My hypnosis is scheduled for 9/29. I’m thinking positive. She’ll give me cd’s and other tools to reinforce it, too.
More updates to come.
