OH KARAOKE IS MY FAVORITE. Could be because I sing :) But, I like to act like I cant because that is always more fun.
People doing this are also doing these things:

I have a severe fear of performing by myself, let alone I shudder at the thought of even singing in front of people. My sister in law and some of our mutual friends have Rock Band and the opportunity’s come up for me to sing and each time I’ve declined.
This Thing is one more step I need to overcome in building my self confidence. Hopefully I’ll be able to soon =)
I did it in public for the first time at some tiki-themed place in Portland, Oregon. I sang “Shoop” by Salt n Pepa. It was amazing.
Ive never done this, and definately want to try it! I think it could possibly be one of the funnest AND funniest things ever.
I think its just that I’m seriously deathly afraid of it…. just about at much as I am of heights!
Well i’ve sang about 13 karaoke song seperiences. So I’m crossing this off as accomplished but I still want to keep karaoking. that’s awesome good stuff. I even did one LIVE karaoke with a love band and VERY fun crowd. That was most nervous of all because there’s basically no difference from that and singing in a rock band! (there’s no electronic karaoke follower, no prerecording) it’s all real. So that’s awesom and DEFINITELY it’s a test of your confidence and fear-challenger, which is great! I like dancing a lot, too. Both of those test your limits, but dancing I think is something more natural for me, but singing is definitely worth doing. I definitely hope to keep this up in the long run to just jump into karaoke, and it’s challenging and VERY good stuff.
Love it, Love it, Love it!
But if you’re going to do it, do it right. Song choice is key! Make sure you choose a Journey song for an artistic dramatic performance. You’ll have ‘em begging for more. Works everytime!
I love music; I love rock; I’ve never learned how to play any instrument except a few keyboard songs, minimal harmonica, and “vocals”, so this is the closest thing I can think of with rock. Here’s the run down.

Implementation. Obviously, if I got some practice in before, I’d feel more confident singing these, but really, this would only take 1-3 nights (4 songs/night) or a crazy line-up of 13 songs, but that would be like an actual hour-long performance, so doing this one night sounds HIGHLY unlikely; 3 nights is even ambitious.
Even if it’s a song you’ve done a million times in the shower, you have got to get up and sing.
Everybody can do it. Sometimes it’s about having the right friends around. Often, it’s about having the right crowd to sing to.
And sometimes, it’s just about finding the right song. I started out my karaoke “career” with a song by Steely Dan.
WRONG MOVE
After I scooped my poor pride up off the floor, I decided to work with something that was more in line with the crowd, more in line with me. Pearl Jam.
And there it began.
It’s always worth it to hear the crowd’s appreciation, even if you get the butterflies when you’re up there. I know I do, every time.
i would but there are 3 things stopping me.. 1 is that i dont have a kareoke machine 2 is tht i dnt kno any1 who has a kareoke machine 3 is tht i sound like a dying cat when i sing.. i mean seriously, my father had to come in and check on me hen i was sining to make sure i wasnt in pain * blushes *
