I’m finished school forever and now it is time for me to find a career that I love and that I want to do for the rest of my life.
How to have a CAREER instead of just a job
How I did it: trying and failing. in my past jobs, i scraped together enough secretarial experience to make me look good, and my college degree lent itself nicely (sociology) to dealing with people from other backgrounds.
Lessons & tips: take the job experiences you have now and expand them. get the most out of your job. ask for more work (even if you feel that it might drive you crazy), it'll make you more diversified and more well-rounded.
Resources: my husband, for putting up with more than his fair share of my complaining...

thats so true…and many people can’t differentiate between a job and a career. good luck to everyone working on this!
A job…something you do to make ends meet. A career…something you work towards that you enjoy doing. Both involve working to make money, the main difference is, you will have worked a good portion of life to reach your dream career, and will have worked a good many jobs along the way.
I am an aid at a middle school. I would like to be something more than that. I plan on taking sign language classes so that maybe I can get a job in the school system as an interpreter. It would be more money and maybe, just maybe, I would feel like I contributed more to society and to my family income.
