big ideas, little space 3 years ago

with our renovations underway, i’m dreaming of ways to use the little space we’re getting. i can’t have a full-on studio to my heart’s content, but one idea i had was to organize my supplies into “kits” that are organized by totes with large handles. then, i will buy a standing coat rack with castors (or apply castors to it), and hang my kits off it! this will save space, but keep everything visible, handy, and organized!

    studio envy... 3 years ago

i look at people’s studios on their websites. i read about them. my laundry room is currently my studio. or rather, it’s storage for things i would like to put in a studio if i had one. however, since we are renovating our third floor into a master bedroom and bathroom, perhaps there is some way i can carve out a small, very very small, studio space. perhaps…

very worth doing! 3 years ago

it’s not perfect… i still want to replace the blinds with curtains, and there’s some organizing to do… but it’s good for now. i must express how exciting it is to have a whole room devoted to creating stuff!

The specifics (like curtains) will join another goal… to “create the perfect apartment.”

I love my little room – and my BIG table. It’s really nice to have my own little spot. Now I just need to get it a little dirty more often ;)

On my way to my own creative space 4 years ago

I’ve been working on this goal on and off for years. I was using the dining room but them every time we wanted to use the dining table I had to find somewhere to put everything away. I have decided to go back to the spare room. I’ve got a wardrobe in there for my supplies, just a matter of getting them organised into stackable boxes. I also need to move my computer in there but in order to make the room for this I need to move the home gym. Only so much can fit in one room. LOL. Still a long way to go to make the space inspiring but trying to do bits and pieces here and there.

so i have recreated my bedroom. i love it there… very very cozy… unexpectedly so. that means i can start to make my studio. here’s the plan:

paintbuy shelvesmove furniture into studio (shelves, table, desk)hang lotsa pictures (salon style!)
    organize papers
    fix lighting
    hang curtains
tackle the junk and paper stuff in storage
throw out (or sell) everything i don’t need
find a place for everything else

    voila!
then it’s time to get makin stuff!

thoughts on furniture rearranging 4 years ago

i live in a small apartment… so it’s important to play around. i’m going to shift everything so my studio is in my current bedroom and my bedroom is kinda combined with my living room, like in a loft space. i think it will work fabulously. although i wonder if it will totally screw up my feng shui? hmmm oh well. i can always switch it back.

i just think it would be so great to have a seperate room to go to for creative work.

Space for Creativity 4 years ago

I would love to someday have a space – a room even, that I can create in. Painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, all of it. My husband could have a music space in the same room. That would be so cool.
