I want to sell a photograph…just to see if I can. :)
It has almost happened a few times, but I’ve never managed to get the requests in time.

How to sell a photograph
It made me
fulfilled
 "I photographed a music festival and the local free weekly paid me $25 to publish one of the photos in their year-end photo issue"
How I did it: I started doing photography in winter of '05 as a way to relieve stress. I soon found it was my favorite way to spend my time. I photographed concerts a lot because I love music, and in '06 a writer from a music magazine asked me to cover a music festival after he noticed my coverage of another festival on my flickr page. I really loved my first job for them, it was incredibly fun, and that showed in my photographs. This led to more work, and in the summer of '07 I shot a photo that ended up getting published six months later in the Chicago Reader's year-end best photos issue. I still have copies of that paper, it felt amazing to find my name and work in newspaper boxes all around town one day! Lessons & tips: Persistence and loving what you shoot is necessary in selling a photograph. Let your photography become a channel for your passion for life. This passion will show despite any lack of technical skill. Anyone can make a technically good photograph, but it takes passion to go that extra mile and make a photograph someone will actually pay you for. Be constantly open to unpaid work opportunities; they lead the way to paid ones. Be sure to get a website and tell everyone you meet about it, eventually word will spread and people will start coming to you with all sorts of opportunities! Resources: www.flickr.com |

I might be able to have put some of my photos for show at a restaurant in the neighbourhood, over the summer.

A friend of ours offered to put me in contact with someone who might be interested in my prints. I was so nervous about it – I told him not right now. (stupid, I know)

I was invited to take pictures of a local women’s only triathlon- The Ramblin’ Rose. I got 50% of the sales off of my pictures. So far I’ve sold 5 pictures off of www.eventpictures.com and made around $50 and this is just the first day they’ve been up! I’m very glad I did this because I’ve gotten several comments on my photos, but I’ve had anyone want to own them.

I sold 3 photos, A sold 3 photos and L sold 2 photos. We all got some nice comments from browsers, too. The whole experience was wonderful and I am glad we did it.

it felt sooooo good, It was a picture that I really liked and was proud of so I am super happy that it is the photograph that was the first one I sold

it was good. i charged 50 bucks fora three piece set. That’s some good money. a hint though: don’t get your photo’s developed at wal-mart. They came out all crappy and over-saturated. good luck!
