send a message in a bottle out to sea

I went over to the annual morro bay dive clean up today. The divers go under the piers and bring up junk. One side says junk builds habitat for sea creatures. Another side says that the junk kills habitat for sea creatures. (Shrug. I don’t know.) What I do know is that there were an awful lot of barnacle encrusted bottles brought up. Were those all bottles with messages in them? Because….... who would just throw an empty bottle in the ocean? It wasn’t my intent that my message end up at the bottom of the ocean where a sea creature will .. will what? Take up residence in my bottle? What did I expect?

I expected the message to reach my mom.

This will give me two bottles to do! Very nice as I want to send a message out to sea and ask whomever finds it to postcard me back. The other, well, I want to send a message to my Mom. I’m sure she will see if from Heaven and fetch it. Maybe write me back even.

I will drip wax all round the top of the bottle to seal it water tight. That seems to be the only difference between these and the more expensive kits I saw. Oh, the other kits have a fill in the blank message. I didn’t want that, so this is great for me!
