become more involved with my church

We’re having a planning meeting for this year’s VBS this month, and I’m going to go. I’m going to do more than just sit back and wait for someone to ask me if I’ll do crafts. I’m going to go to the meeting and share my ideas.

I helped out with the church Christmas program “Back to Bethlehem”. It was really fun. We set up the basement with different shops and dressed up and acted like we really were back in the Biblical days. The kids went around and did different craft projects in the shops, went to the bakery, etc. Every 15 min. there was a short skit about the happenings around the time of Jesus’ birth. I was in charge of the perfume shop, and helped the kids grind up cinnamon sticks and potpourri to add to water and make little vials of “perfume”. It was so much fun!

I found a church I love, and I’ve been going there nearly two years now, but I’m not involved in anything except doing crafts for VBS which I know is a big help, but it’s only once a year. There’s Sunday school and Bible studies and prayer times that I’ve never gone too. Even when they started doing quilting one weekend a month I can’t get myself to go. There’s always some excuse not to, and I LOVE to quilt. I know a lot of it is because I’m nervous to do new things by myself, and my husband doesn’t really have time to go with me. Maybe once winter really hits and he doesn’t have so much work to do, we’ll do some things together.
