i think i might want to do the track team next year, because it sounds/looks cool and i want to be in better shape. plus, i could meet more people and potentially impress some guys… but anyway.
last year in the track unit of gym we did sprinting and i was pretty good at that i suppose—im tall (about 5’8”)with long legs and i play other sports so i guess im athletic… but im not that good at running!! any tips on how to be a good runner?

I had my hip injected today by my orthopod. It seemed drastic to me, but he assured me that it would help. So….
Sitting here feeling the big bunch of crud sitting in my joint, no so nice. But maybe in a week or so I can start to run again….

today to my Doctor that my leg is really bothering me and not really healing.
He noted the wear on my shoes and thought it odd.
After some discussion of my financial status, he asked if I would like to see if he could get me in for a quickie consult (driveby type) with a very good ortho who is a friend of his.
Sounds good. Unfortunately had to agree to not run until such time. Sounds difficult, but, given that I can not really run….it was pretty easy to agree.Ellipitical and me new buddies.

torture for 4 miles today. My right leg has been very very painful. I thought it was “OK” but a lot of people noticed I was limping, when I thought I wasn’t. So I have been using it. I have been swimming and ellipiticalling and putting a lot of ice on it.
and today it feels better. I enthusiastically signed up for a 5K this weekend after that. We shall see. If I can get through this injury I think I can call myself a better runner.

well, actually…ot really. But now there is potential for improvement.
It has been noted that my left leg is significatly weaker than my right. So I’ve started a training programme to strengthen my leg to have it be more equal. Everyone has one side thats stronger, but mine are really different. So this should help.
Secondly trainer thinks I should start doing some speedwork. So that should be interesting. Starting next week.
I really am getting somewhere.

I was running on the treadmill.
My trainer apparently was watching me for a bit, she came up and told me that my form looks much improved, the swing is still present but barely noticible.
This is encouraging.

my form has improved since S. my trainer noted the swimng in the right leg. I still have the swing, but it’s much less pronounced.
My speed has of course improved since I corrected my gait. it hasn’t improved a lot, but becausei have been going so slow, this improvement is really really welcome. I can get a lot more miles into my alloted running time.
Trainer tweaked a bit my Marathon and half marathon plan today. I feel pretty good about it this time around.
Not great, but still improving.
Pictured is Lopez Lomong… someone to watch tonight in the US Olympic trials. Now there’s someone I’d like to meet.

I seem to have developed a very unpleasant foot pain. Taking today off. Yesterday was a no running day but with work, I was on the foot all day anyway.
If this doesn’t clear up….I am just hoping for not a new thing to moan about. At least there is the good pool here, if it doesn’t clear up.
