Design a website

I already bought the domain name from godaddy

A friend gave me DreamWeaver which is awesome, I just need to find the time to sit down & figure it out!

Well, I’ve started building it – and no, the tables-for-layout aren’t going exactly as planned (why does rowspan suddenly make the nested table ignore my /trs?! Hmm? Hmm?!)

But I’m keeping it tres simple: links down the side, title at top, and then the rest of the space for content. Thumbnail galleries, mostly :) Home -> Porfolio -> Galleries.

That’s the design bit done, anyway!

I’ve just partially destroyed this by accident. Hopefully this will be reversed soon and I can polish off the last few details.

I seem to be intent on having all versions of phrasing around building a website!

The obvious first stages is learning – however, alongside a bunch of reading, some ‘market research’ (ie web browsing!), mostly I’m going to learn through doing. No other way, really, imo.

The final stage will be the actual creation of my site – putting it all together, putting it out there.

However, in the middle comes this, and I can’t forget the importance of that word design. And it’s a nice word! :) I’ve already started this, thinking about how the pages will look, how they will link together. And really, this is the most important stage for those reasons! :)

Must remember, though, that as the entry below states: you can’t expect to get it right first time. I’m almost certainly starting too big, but however it looks, I can refine and redesign in the future – but I need to make that first attempt first!

that to accomplish anything worthwhile, there will likely be a long preliminary period in which you will produce awful, disappointing work.

Essentially just styling a custom Wordpress theme, but some bits were quite fiddly. A few more bits and pieces to add before I feel finished with this.

Damn it all. I haven’t any money to get the thing fixed. I was only trying to replace the LCD screen and I fucked it all up. Damn, damn, damn.
