Hot Toddie Schoonover has 13 days to run 50 miles
I didn’t really know what to expect from this film. I had seen a couple clips on late night shows including the restaurant scene where Anne Hathaway’s character gave her friends goodies, and the multiple coat montage with Glenn Close. I figured it would be humorous and a fun watch.
I was amazed by what it turned out to be. The film was a brilliant social commentary on the sacrifices people make for image and that the choices you make change not only your course but the course of those around you. Meryl Streep gave such a strong nuanced performance, only letting the cracks show in her image three brief times in the film. Anne Hathaway was the perfect casting choice for the innocent woman who gets swept up in the mess that is the fashion industry.
I could go on and on about how brilliant this film is for someone who hasn’t read the source material, but I don’t want to delve into specifics for those who haven’t seen the film on their own yet.
5 out of 5 stars
Meryl Streep was fantastic, as always…the only problem I had with it was that the “cold” characters (Miranda and her assistant) didn’t soften at all throughout the film – I haven’t read the book so I don’t know if it’s the same case there, but I found it quite hard to relate to them or empathise with them at all. But still worth seeing, especially since I haven’t seen a “chick flick” in a while.
wraiths82 is daydreaming about possibilities!
I liked how Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Simon Baker & Adrien Grenier worked together in various scenes. I hadn’t known the male actors were in it and enjoyed their parts in the movie. I liked seeing Hathaway’s character experiencing things that were frankly awesome to see and do.
It made me wonder though, if Hathaway’s character hadn’t spoken up at the end…would she still be working with Streep’s character? Would she eventually have wised up or would she have become Dragon Lady Jr.?
Funny and satirical, Meryl Streep needs to clear her mantle off for another Oscar because she’s absolutely brilliant.
It should be fun. I’ve heard so many great things about Meryl Streep’s performance. That’s really what I’m looking forward to.
Jamie once a texan girl...always a texan girl!
i want to see it again!
and buy the soundtrack. i’m a fanatic of this movie…even though compared to other chick lits the book is below par? go figure!
