still rocks, indeed.
But I’m going to wait two months to see if burn-out occurs.
Then it’s official!
How I did it: I was running an electronic music website and promoting weekly nights at a local nightclub, and I wanted to document it in photographs, so I started bringing my camera. Soon, other people were hiring me to shoot for them. When I started making more money at that than my day job, I took the plunge.
Lessons & tips: The hardest part was figuring out what I really wanted to do. I always thought it would be music related - it never occurred to me that my old highschool hobby would take over my life and turn into a dream career.
Find something you're passionate about, then make the time to go out and do it. It has to be a priority, or it will always be on the back burner and you'll always be a slave to the daily grind.
Resources: The book, "Successful Self Promotion for Photographers" was the single biggest inspiration and help.

I have been searching for a job that I feel passionate about, but it’s been such a process. This summer has been awesome cuz I found a job as an ESL instructor. 3 hours a day, M-F, for 6 weeks. I am hoping to take a trip to Romania after this, the ESL capital of the world.
cathyisme and I am not you.
I received an email today and they are asking me to have my reasoning exam. I applied online and took their assessment exam and glad they responded immediately. I am not sure if this company suits me but its P & G an I am really happy to be invited right now but I am really praying for it. I dont want to sound like I’ve been accepted already cause I am just starting with the battle. Hope I’ll make it thru!!
edit: didnt make thru.. sad but lets move on!! :)

i had two jobs already in the corporate world. both of them sucks. i didnt even last for a year in each job.
i dont know, i want to teach kids. but my parents were not really cool with that. plus i dont have education units so its kind of hard to apply.
but today, ive applied as a language teacher to several schools so i just wait if they are going to call me.
I’ve got a job that starts on Monday, but I’m pretty sure it will feel like a job :( trying to think positive though, hoping it’ll be less tedious than other things I’ve done…
My job…quite frankly…sucks.
I love the people I work with…anyone under the management, that is. The store director must hate me. He always has this fake smile. And the other day, he threatened to have me fired for something COMPLETELY stupid. I haven’t done anything.
The work is hard and I feel underpaid…
All in all, I really just need to find a new job. Two years in the same place just takes all the fun out of it.
Melanie Exam done - waiting for my result
There are things in life I really love to do and while I’m on it, time passes by so quickly that I don’t even recognize it. This has always been something that I wanted to have in my job. I like the idea of getting up in the morning and thinking: “This is going to be a great day!” – which I had often times when I was little (a part of my inner peace that I want to restore). I know exactly which job is going to give me this feeling and it’s not an every day job. I also know that when I focus and work hard on my goals in life that I can accomplish everything I’ve set my mind on – even if everyone else doesn’t believe in me. I won’t tell you what I’m up to, but I’ll let you know when I made it ^^
It actually works like that, in most cases- I work three nights a week where I basically sit, play with the concession, talk to my coworkers and other people (who are all freaking awesome) and then I watch the movie! I was actually surprised the first time I got a paycheck, I forgot it was a job!
