I am a HUGE fan of putting money into other people’s parking meters around the courthouse in my city. There is no parking garage or unmetered parking and so sadly we constantly have to run out of the courthouse to drop more change into a meter so the meter maid won’t give us the dreaded ticket. It is funny because while I do it I constantly say “Meter Fairy”. I have had to spend some time there recently because my son’s girlfriend has had to go to court 3 times a week and I notice how many meters run out of time. It just gives me a happy feeling knowing that I have managed to buck the system and help just one person! Random acts of kindness are the best!!! 16 months ago

How I did it: It was actually an accident, but I felt good about doing it afterward. I intended to put money into my meter, but ended up putting change into the meter of the car next to mine. Read how I did it… 2 years ago

it was in Ithaca, NY and the meter maid was coming down this street. I noticed that almost all of the cars on this hill had no money in their meters. I got up to the meter maid and paid the one in front of her. she smiled, stopped and turned around and said she wouldn’t give tickets to the rest of the street.

home of the 2 cent minute. Parking meters in downtown charge 25 cents for 12 minutes with a 2 hour max. It feels so good to walk down the street with a few bucks in quarters and keep the meter maids from their ticket quotas. 4 years ago
