Soucha studying the horizon, how to get there?
Got a hit on my great great grandfather and his father on a french geneaology site! yeah! Kinda slowed the learning curve ‘cause now I’m at the the people who are harder to find.
How I did it: I asked family members about our relatives, looked through old photo albums and asked lots of questions. While using the Geni.com website I also scanned in old photos of relatives, which really livened the tree up. Read how I did it…

Had to cancel trip, but been extending family tree anyway using website connections. Got a lot on my husband’s side… nobody on my side other than my cousin’s new last name. Gosh, my family REALLY doesn’t care about this stuff!! But anyway the tree has gotten so big that i either need to upgrade my account or start doing the tree in a book. I prefer the latter but have no idea how to lay that out. Research must be done!
My mother did significant work on her tracing her side of the family when she was in her 30s, so I’m already off to a great start, but it’s my dad’s side that still eludes me. I’m particularly interested in exploring the Cherokee blood I am told I have 4 generations back. Also, I just found out that my father’s side has Scottish roots, when I had thought I was all English, so I can’t wait to learn more about that. There are a few projects I need to finish first, but mapping my genealogy is most definitely something I want to do some day.

Got some help from MyHeritage.com! Connected me with a distant relative of my husbands and helped fill in a whole branch of the tree! Going scrapbook shopping after we get back from visiting my extended family this weekend. Hopefully I can get some pics scanned.

I’ll be a name on a tree with a birth and death date. How sad. I might re-think this whole concept. Maybe put together a scrapbook of our marriage and hobbies, our life and travel. I have 2 I’m working on for my immediate family; almost done. Guess I’ll count this done when I’ve gotten all I can from the past to current date. I can draw a tree with notes about where in europe our ancestors came from and that should be sufficient to just put down what I know from conversations with family members.

Called extended family and they have ‘lost’ old pictures and sound very dis-interested in the whole topic. Hmm. Challenges, challenges!

Going to visit relatives next month so I’ll pursue this more then. After that, I think I’ll explore a few road trips that aren’t too far away to search for old family farms and headstones. Should be interesting, especially if Grandma has some pictures.

started with the names I have on myheritage. Need some family assistance though. I’m going to add birth and death dates, but they aren’t as important as characteristics of the person themselves, so I need to know something about their life. I’ll make a paper version of the tree with all the details and hopefully photos!

I really need to take the time and talk to my grandparents and try to get all of the details.
