We went there for our anniversary in september. It was great! I hope to go back sometime.
How to visit St Louis
How I did it: I made arangements with my roommate to stay at her place (saving on hotel cost) and flew out there for about 5 days. We went and saw President U.S. Grant's home (which helped towards one of my other "Things" to do.

I lived in St Louis for a few months and I can say it’s not that amazing of a city. However, one of the best places on earth happens to be in St. Louis (don’t ask me why—they could’ve chosen better locations) and it is called ‘The City Museum’. Check it out! It will blow your mind if you like a bit of imagination and wild frolicking
I’ve been lots of places and found something to love in all of them except St. Louis. We went all over and around the city and it is so infinitely skippable.
We stopped briefly in St. Louis en route to Branson in summer this year. The 4th of July fair was going on. My St. Louis trip is described here if anyone is interested.
We went to St. Louis on a limited budget this summer (2005). It is an excellent city to take a family to. There are several awesome attractions. The St. Louis Zoo was free and it was a really great zoo. The exhibits were really wonderful and quite close together (no hiking for miles like you have to do at the KC Zoo). There is a science center which has a really neat enclosed walking bridge that spans an interstate highway (complete with radar guns so you can see how fast the cars below you are going). It was free also and had lots of hands-on interactive exhibits and displays for the children to play with. There are also several other free attractions that we simply didn’t have time to do.
The city itself had a really cool vibe. Traffic was interesting, particularly when we were attempting to leave the city and go home west on I-70, but all in all a great spot.
The picture of my son was taken from the deck of the “Tom Sawyer,” a tour “steamboat.” Relaxing and interesting.
If you’re into music, go see a show at The Creepy Crawl. Great concert venue – small enough to be extremely personally but it’s well known and great bands play there.
[Example: Tsunami Bomb before they became LAME.]
How weird that the only other person who also wants to visit St. louis is from SF!
I’d highly recommend St. Louis for a family vacation, and it has so many FREE activities – the zoo, Grant’s Farm, the Science Center, St. Louis Art Museum (check out Waterlilies by Monet), and so much more. I WILL be going back soon.
