Does being in Louisville, getting all dressed up, wearing a big hat, and going to all the parties around the race count? Instead of spending $100+ just to stand in the gates for the short race. 4 days to go! I wanna know if i can mark it off or not.

would love to do this too! Great idea, I should do the hat too- afterall, my name is Eliza :)
I went on a spur of the moment road trip for spring break, i mean spur of the moment! we were drunk partying still at 7:30 am, and my friend and i decided it would be a good idea to visit her twin friends in Louisville, so we called them up and left a message, went to bed for 4 hrs, got up, got the ok, did some laundry, packed and got our oil changed, left by 6 and got there by midnight!! the most amazing mini road trip of my life. we where down there for 3 days and I loved every minute of it! i’m invited to come down to Derby, but i can’t this year, so hopefully i can next time!! and i’m so excited for them to come up here, so we can show them how it’s done in the Zoo… Kalamazoo =)
LittleWolf Life is beautiful.
So, my dear friend who is going to school out in KY sent me Bluegrass coffee and a horse shoe from Churchhill. So, I made a big hat, made the coffee and hung up the shoe. Even if I don’t GET to the derby, I can turn it on TV and pretend I’m there.
Go me.
...but we DID manage to get to the Oaks! And it was almost as good. Until I go to college-well, after it, then, since college kids are broke-I might be able to save and eventually afford it.
And I was in KY Derby weekend! It was definately awesome.
and then checking out all of the other hats, is more fun than watching the races.
Women need to wear hats and gloves more!
P.S. As far as attending the Kentucky Derby is concerned, you also must go to a Derby Eve party.
