I am especially thankful for all my friends and family this year. Eccentrism delights me whenever I find it in society—John Stuart Mill said it best:
“The amount of eccentricity in a society has generally been proportional to the amount of genius, mental vigor, and moral courage it contained. That so few now dare to be eccentric marks the chief danger of the time.”
I pray my life will be full of these same kinds of eccentric friends for many years to come, and that I always have room in my heart for more. It takes a person to answer a knock at the door. It takes another genius to recognize the intrinsic value of the person knocking and to ask these greatest kinds of individuals into their home for cherished commeraderie. May I always aspire to be the one who gratefully and with anticipation answers the neighborly door.
