learn how to draw with pastels

Since school I always wanted to draw, but could never get the hang of it and would always quit. A year ago a friend introduced me to pastels, and I loved the way they feel when used…as if pouring the ideas out to paper. The way you spread the colors over the paper appealed to me, but I lapsed and didn’t draw more than two drawings. I have to try it again and stick with it.

I had some “beginner” oil pastels and tried them out yesterday morning, but I did not like the feel. I went to the art supply store yesterday and bought some decent “chalk-based” pastels and some 40 pound paper. I’m hoping that learning this medium will ignite my drawing skills.
