For an artist, selling something you’ve made is really gratifying. It’s one thing to get feedback from people you know but there is something about a complete stranger liking your art / design / song / idea so much that they actually pay money for it.
This might seem contrary to the whole “art for art’s sake” idea but I find it’s a new thing that doesn’t have to compete with that feeling, but adds to it :)
