jrguitar21done.... well, kinda
so instead of floating down the amazon in a canoe, i went upstream in a river boat. Hey, it was still a long (sometimes boring) but overall incredible experience. I traveled the majority of the length of what is considered the Amazon River system all the way from the east coast of brazil at the city of Belem into the Peruvian amazon basin stopping at the Iquitos on the Rio Solimoes. The duration of the trip was 16 days. Quite an experience and i now realize that canoing down the amazon is a bit fanciful idea, that would take at least a month. Furthermore, the river is so huge and therefore flat, that canoing in the amazon proper isnt nearly as interesting as rafting or canoing in the upper stretches and tributaries to the amazon in peru, ecuador and colombia. 5 years ago
