Eimear can't believe her dissertation is finally finished
Made two this evening, and two birthday cards, one for my brother and one for a friend….The friends one came out really well, and my brother will like the theme of his. The Christmas cards were fun, I suppose I could find a formula that works and sick with it, and lash them out, but I am enjoying experimenting with all the materials I have at the moment, so I am concentrating on the process, not the goal. At the moment there are stamps, and fancy paper, and glitter, and cut out shapes, and stick on shapes, and all kinds of everything gone on…..I will hopefully get it all out of my system and calm down when I have a few more done 8-)

Best Card Yet
11 months ago
Our 2008 card was our best one yet. We don’t know how we’re going to top it, conceptually.
In terms of execution, a couple of our friends sent us cards that they had printed thru online services and they looked better than the photocards that we had made at the local Kodak store. At least that part will be better, next year.

Christmas is a time for Love; a time for Joy and Peace;
A time to trim the Christmas Tree and a time to stuff the geese.
It’s a time when we can come together, however far or near;
To shed a little hope into a world of sorrow and fear.

last christmas
12 months ago
I made a few cards last Christmas, something that ended up re-igniting my long lost passion for crafts, so this year I’ve started a lot earlier and will do a lot more. I want EVERYONE to get one…now I just need to make a list of who to send to so I can make enough :)
I love homemade things, it’s so much more special – you can include names, year, whatever you want. And it shows you’ve really put an effort in.

handmade cards ?
I adore them.
Glitzy over the top ones,
Minimal ‘tasteful’ ones,
Tacky funny ones,
Sentimental quaint ones,
ANY kids ones : )
Just having that human touch, thought, time
and personal creativity is so special.
Every year I try to make my own,
sometimes I just help my son with his.
This year we as a family are trying to
have as much a handmade, recycled, re used
Christmas as possible.
So, Id better get started soon on this goal : )

jzimbabwe has just finished the CA exam. Have to wait 8 weeks for results!
It’s fun, but there are moments when you wonder why you’re doing this. My husband refers to it jokingly as “the sweatshop.” His one rule, which I abide by ever since 2003, is “No tying of knots on the card.”

I made some pretty cute thank you cards a couple days ago. I think making some Christmas cards this year should be a breeze. I figure that even after getting all of the materials, it will still be cheaper than buying cards, especially with my discount through work.
