Greenaxe The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing
okay i still haven’t done this but i do live 50 miles to the nearest water so maybe i can be forgiven? (which is brighton and not the best for surfing!)

How I did it: My best friend took me to Hawaii for my 16th birthday (hey i paid for myself, he just took me. lol) while we were there we took surfing lessons together. it was amazing!!! I wasnt strong enough to push myself on top of the wave so the instructor helped me. Once I was on the wave though I was great! I rode the waves the whole way into the beach basically everytime. Its an incredible feeling to float on the water like its the only thing in … Read how I did it…
How I did it: My grandma who lives in Florida contacted a guy through a suft shop in Florida. It was 50 for an hour, but I was actually out there closer to an hour and forty minutes. I stood up on the third try! You need a lot of upper body strength, because when you're on the board you have to swim a long ways using just your arms. Your legs are flat on the board and useless.Dolphins swam by! They were surfing, too.&… Read how I did it…
LAND_PIRATE is resting.
How I did it: I went with a surfing class from my college in California. It was a little difficult to stand up at first, but it was well worth the effort. Make sure to take lessons on land before so that you have an easier time popping up. The balancing on the board while standing isn't the hardest part. Popping up is the most difficult because the water sucks you into the board and if you don't get up quick enough then you will fall. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I took classes because I thought it was more complicated. All you really need to do for basics is somehow get a board that's good for your size and experience. (you should ask someone experienced) Then get into the water safely with the board. Then when you see a good wave coming your way, you face the shore, lay on your belly, and paddle with your two arms. Make sure the tip of the surfboard is above the water. PADDLE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPE… Read how I did it…

This goal is funny because I’ve lived in Hawaii for three years now and never tried it. I’ve been boogie boarding…
This one has to happen. First of all, I have a phobia of sharks. I am also fascinated by them. Since I was a child, I have had recurring nightmares about sharks. I remember waking up once and being hesitant to get in the shower, that’s how scary my dream had been. (And how irrational the fear is—I know how silly that sounds.)
Fear is a huge part of my life. I think that getting over that is partly learning to be less afraid, and partly learning to not give in to the fear that you can’t get past. Because fear is such a huge part of my life, I have to make a point of doing things that scare me. This one scares me, badly.
Going to Florida the last week in May! Looking to drop a little money on a one-day class with a rented foam board. My heart will be pounding. Did you know that the majority of shark attacks happen in three feet of water? That means that going in up past my knees scares me. The water is filled with sand and you can’t see anything but suspicious bubbles churned up by waves that I watch obsessively.
I am excited though! Excited and scared.

One of my friends from class said she’d love to teach me to surf this summer despite the fact that she hasn’t gone in five years. At least she could tell me what I’m SUPPOSED to be doing. :) I’m one step in the right direction! Now if summer would just get here.

Yup! This is one of my oldest goals. As time went by I started loosing interest in it, but mostly due to one simple fact. When I was young(er) I spent a lot of time on the beaches, playing with the sea and I almost felt part of it. But today, many years later, I haven’t got the habit of going to the beach and swimming and, I have to be true, I have become a little affraid of the water when it comes with those big waves that are so useful to surf :-)
But as long as I have another goal which says that I will “overcome my fears”, this is no impediment. :-)
I already surf the mountains when we go snowboarding, so now I have to surf the seas :-)
But first, I have to accomplish the “Make more sport” goal, or my body won’t allow me to enjoy it fully!
John arboretum today maybe?
I live in Massachusets and recently went to Hawaii and learned how to surf.I fell in love with it but I dont have much skill or a board. I loved the adrenaline and the shoulder exercise…and the beach! Summer is coming and i have a new truck and some cash saved up for a board and wet suit.I hope its worth the effortin New england.
I have been playing with this for a while now, and finally decided to give it a try. can say jus do it cause im so scared. I can swim, i can swim great actually, its jus im scared of fish and eels and stuff and seeweed! i hate seeweed. it makes me want to scream. well i am going to be moving near Ventura and Santa Barbara, California.
Well I’ll keep it in my goals, jus want to be free and happy and it seems like surfers are always happy.
inneedofinspiration is thanking God!
if I want to do this in the next 10 years. I am thinking with the economy and my job situation as it is its unrealistic to see myself meet this goal during the summer, but if I shoot to body surf in Lake Michigan it will be a great accomplishment!
